Visiting the Museum

Activity Stations - Human Evolution

Hold a Neanderthal skull, learn how the Taung Child died and talk to trained staff at the Human Evolution activity station about the latest developments in the fascinating search for human origins.

Meet and touch the skeletons of some of our living relatives, including the gorilla and chimpanzee, and see how they compare with our own skeleton. Then take a journey back in time and look at the ancient faces that make up our family tree, particularly the branch that evolved into modern humans.

This activity station can be found in search & discover, Level 2.

"Although we have older skulls in the activity station, this is one of my favourite items because I find it is possible for me to easily relate to, and admire, these adventurous ancestors of ours."
