The Australian Museum's mineral collection is vast and colourful. It includes crystals, rocks, gemstones and much more. At the Planet of Minerals activity station you can gain insight into how and where various minerals form and what properties and characteristics they have.
There are over 3000 different minerals on the planet and part of the experience of the activity station is not only touching and comparing many of them but scratching, sniffing, lighting up and experimenting with them. Minerals are a very important part of the foundation of civilisation and life on earth, so come and marvel at the brilliance of the geological world.
