Leaving a gift in your Will

A gift in your Will is a lasting tribute that will continue enabling us to shape our world through scientific research and community programs. Past bequests have enabled the purchase of equipment, the establishment of research Fellowships, the undertaking of specific areas of research and the direction of funds to areas most in need.

When you are making or updating your Will, we recommend that independent legal advice be sought. For your convenience here is some sample wording for a simple gift in a Will:

"I give to the Australian Museum ______________ for the use and benefit of the Australian Museum at its absolute discretion free from all taxes and duties payable in respect of my death, my estate or the administration of my estate and I direct that the receipt of the Director, President or other authorised officer for the time shall be an absolute discharge to my trustee for the gift."

Bequests from generous friends of the Museum have contributed so much in the past to the institution's development. If you have already made provision for our work in your Will, please let us know. We would welcome the chance to thank you in person and involve you in our activities to whatever extent you wish.

If you would like to discuss, in-confidence, the details of a bequest to the Australian Museum, please contact us.
