This egg featured is typical of the realistic cameo-like style characteristic of central New South Wales. Gully Dennis, Kamilaroi emu egg carver from Walgett, has been carving eggs for the past 36 years. He started carving at the age of nine and was taught the craft by his Uncle Frank Dennis and Aunty Fay Green who continue to carve today. In this example, using a shearing cutter as a tool, Gully has carved the egg back to the final layer of the shell to create his unique form of carving
