People often bring bones to search & discover to identify but this one has us guessing. The bone is about 20 cm long. It comes from remote Eleanor Beach on the Hawkesbury River north of Sydney (New South Wales, Australia). The boy who brought it in was there on a houseboat holiday with his family. They found the bone lying in the sand among the different shells on Eleanor Beach. The boy thinks it might be the rib of a mammal. What do you think?
If you have an idea about what sort of bone it might be, email us with your answer. Don't forget to include some reasons for your identification.
