Services and facilities

Services and facilitiesThe Research Library offers a range of services and facilities including:

Reading area

Adjacent to the current serials display with fabulous views of east Sydney, carrels for private research, equipment for viewing microfilm and fiche, a reference book collection, and an area for browsing new books and serials.

Photocopiers

There are two photocopiers located in the Library area. Photocopying of Library materials (subject to copyright and Research Library restrictions) is permitted in the Library at a cost of 20 cents per page.

Microfilm and Microfiche Readers

Microfiche and microfilm readers are located along the back wall of the Research Library.

Computers

Computers are available for use for the following purposes:

  • World Wide Web/Telnet Research
  • Word processing such as Microsoft Word
  • CD ROM and database searching
  • You can print from the World Wide Web, CD ROMs or databases for 20c per page.

Study carrels

There are study carrels available in the Library - most have power points . You are welcome to use these for quiet study and reading. A large study desk in the main area of the Library is also available for use.

Reference services

  • a reference desk service where professionally-trained staff are available to help researchers make full use of the collections, associated finding aids and equipment;
  • photocopying and reproduction services of material from the collections, on a commercial basis;
  • databases and finding aids to help access the Research Library's collections; including the online public access catalogue and ISYS database.
  • reference service that can accommodate queries by mail, telephone, fax and e-mail;
  • an Interlibrary loans service.

Please note that Research Library staff are available to assist with research. Where extensive research is required we may have to charge a fee.
