Resources and CollectionsThe Research Library is a resource for the professional and scientific staff of the Museum to support their scientific research, preparation for exhibitions and educational activities. The Library is also open to the public as a resource for answering enquiries.

The Research Library reflects the strengths of the Australian Museum's collections and exhibitions, with particular emphasis on Australian natural history.

The Library's collection is strong in the following subjects: Anthropology, vertebrate and invertebrate taxonomy and zoology, earth and environmental sciences, materials science and museology.

The Library has approximately 70,000 monographs and over 12,000 periodical titles (many runs dating back over 100 years). The Library also has an important and valuable collection of Rare Books.
