snails and sea-slugs: molluscs

Hydatina physis

Hydatina physis. Another primitive sea-slug, we can see in this species how the body is becoming more prominent than the shell. This represents a stage in the process by which 'snails' have evolved into 'slugs'. This common tropical species feeds on polychaete worms (30mm).
