Background

My formal training is in Botany, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing. I have worked for a range of New South Wales Government Departments carrying out research into methods of mapping forest clearing and into the estimation of plant biomass from Satellite Imagery. I have managed various GIS projects, large and small associated with natural resource management in the public sector.

My work at the Australian Museum

My two primary roles in CBCR are:

I am also involved in a range of other projects in CBCR. I have used GIS to determine the survey site locations for a number of major systematic invertebrate survey projects in various parts of New South Wales. The areas covered by these surveys include: Darling Riverine Bioregion, the South-east Forests, Colleambally Irrigation Area, and Lord Howe Island. I was also lucky enough to be involved in the surveys themselves, which is certainly one of the most enjoyable aspects of working in the CBCR.
