Bachelor of Science (Honours), University of New South Wales
I have had an interest in insects since I was a child, when I told my third grade teacher I was going to be an insect scientist. I undertook an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science at the University of New South Wales and did volunteer work at the Australian Museum while I completed my honours project. My honours project involved the sorting and study of ant data collected by CBCR during an analysis of the impact of Bitou Bush on the coastal sand dunes of New South Wales.
I am currently employed in CBCR to oversee projects that are on the FaunaNet website. These projects are diverse, ranging from keys that enable you to identify animals, to mapping applications that enable you to map the Australian Museum's vast collections. I also participate in the fieldwork undertaken by CBCR, collecting and helping to identify the insects we collect.
My research interests are in the Hymenoptera, specifically the systematics, taxonomy and ecology of the Australian Evaniidae. These small wasps are parasites of cockroaches and almost nothing is known of their biology
