At the Australian Museum, researchers investigate the igneous rocks of eastern Australia (particularly those formed in the last 250 million years (Mesozoic and Cenozoic Eras), along with their associated gemstones (particularly sapphires, rubies and zircons) and minerals (particularly zeolite group minerals). We also study the cave minerals of eastern Australia (including Jenolan Caves in New South Wales) and how they form.
