The Australian Museum has an extensive collection of minerals and other geoscience specimens, including:
- the famous Albert Chapman mineral collection
- rocks (including Antarctic rocks, collected by the famous Australian Antarctic explorer and renowned geologist, Sir Douglas Mawson)
- gemstones (including many rare cut stones)
- meteorites (with the most varied range in Australia)
