The Boomerang Triggerfish is grey-brown above and white below. There is a brown to yellow curved band through the rear of the eye and another above the pectoral fin. The rear edge of the pelvic flap is black.
This species grows to 24cm in length.
It occurs in tropical marine waters of the Indo-Pacific.
In Australia it is known from the central coast of Western Australia, around the tropical north and south to northern New South Wales
