Yusri Yusuf emailed this image to the Museum for identification. It was taken at Pulau Pyar Marine Park in Malaysia at a depth between 10 m and 15 m. Yusri suspected that the fish was the Regal Demoiselle, Neopomacentrus cyanomos.

The Fish Collection Manager looked at the image and agreed that Yusri is probably correct with his identification.

The Regal Demoiselle grows to 10 cm in length. It can be recognised by the large black spot on the operculum and the yellow region posteriorly on the dorsal fin. The base of the caudal fin is usually dark brown, and the margin is dark.

This species occurs in protected lagoons and harbours. It has a widespread distribution from East Africa to southern Japan, Indo-Malaysian Archipelago, Melanesia and northern Australia.
