McCulloch was an excellent artist, speaker and photographer. He used his own illustrations in his papers. He had a talent for hard-hat diving, wireless radio operation and was reputedly an accomplished musician. View more information.
McCulloch produced over 100 publications, some of the most important of which were the reports of fishes collected by the F.I.S. Endeavour off New South Wales (1911-1926), and his checklist of Fishes and Fish-like animals of New South Wales (1922).
