L. Miller trod on what was most likely a Fortescue while angling in bare feet at a depth of about 1 m, in the mouth of the Kiah River Estuary, southern New South Wales in January 2007. This photo was taken the day following the incident. Much of the swelling had lessened by this time, but reoccurred after walking for several days. Photo © S. Chenhall.
