The Ocean Sunfish Mola mola is often seen on the ocean surface in tropical and temperate waters. These sightings gave rise to the belief that sunfishes bask in the sun, hence their common name. They are found from the surface down to several hundred metres and often feed on jellyfishes. They grow up to 4m in length. This specimen was collected off northern New South Wales.
