The Fish Department - Fieldwork

Before collecting fishes at any new location we would always go ashore and request permission from the chief of the village. Max, our Solomon Island Fisheries team member naturally did most of the talking in the local language, followed by Mark and Jeff who explained the benefits of the project.
We were quite happy for the villagers to come aboard the Butai to see our work. The image shows children holding up some of the fishes collected earlier in the day.
