Mindoro Island, 2000

Another interesting find was the highly venomous Reef Stonefish Synanceia verrucosa. This species has a huge mouth that opens at incredible speed to engulf prey.

Great care was taken not to touch the venomous dorsal fin spines.

Leave the Mindoro Island fieldwork pages and view the fact sheet for this species.
