One of the most interesting finds of the trip was the eel Glenoglossa wassi. This species has a fish-like lure attached to a transparent "rod" projecting from the floor of the mouth. The lure even has an "eyespot".
We were all impressed by how "fish-like" the lure looked in the photographic tank as it moved up and down with the rocking of the boat.
D. Smith of the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution identified this fish.
