The following fishes are of particular interest.

  1. Freckled Anglerfish Antennarius coccineus - one 90mm long specimen collected at Kingscliff (AMS I.41846-012). This is the first New South Wales mainland record. The species had been previously recorded from North Solitary Island, Lord Howe Island and Elizabeth and Middleton Reefs.
  2. Rough Humpbacked Scorpionfish Scorpaenopsis macrochir - three specimens (49mm-65mm), collected at Kingscliff (AMS I.41846-027). These are the first New South Wales records and a southern range extension for the species. It had been previously recorded south to Southport Seaway, Queensland (Johnson 1999).
  3. Maori Wrasse Cheilinus trilobatus - one 54mm long specimen collected at Kingscliff (AMS I.41846-028). This is the first New South Wales record and a southern range extension. It had been previously recorded south to Southport Seaway, Queensland (Johnson 1999).
  4. Blue Speckled Pipefish Hippichthys cyanospilus - one 108mm long specimen collected at Iluka (AMS I.41859-019). This is the first New South Wales record and a southern range extension. It had been previously recorded south to Welsby, Moreton Bay, Queensland (Johnson 1999).
