Outer Great Barrier Reef Fish Survey, 1993

This image should serve as a warning to anyone diving in tropical waters near coral. Our boat captain, Dave Cameron cut himself on some coral while diving.

The cut was only minor and was not treated. After a day or so Dave's foot began to swell and become painful. The image shows his foot shortly before we made a "mercy dash" to the Murray Isles to obtain medicial treatment.

This helped the situation but did not solve the problem. Shortly thereafter we headed to Thursday Island where Dave was hospitalised. He didn't lose his foot!
