30 June - 14 October

When the Sisters of Charity arrived in Australia in 1838, the Australian Museum was just 11 years old. The Sisters of Charity and the Australian Museum have been neighbours since St Vincent's hospital opened in Darlinghurst in 1870.

Both the Museum and the Sisters have helped to create the strong national identity Australia celebrated in the current Centenary of Federation. The Australian Museum is proud to present the work of the Sisters of Charity as part of our commitment to the community.

See photos and artefacts and gain a fascinating insight into the story of the Sisters of Charity in Australia.
