Tissue Collection

cryovials

The Tissue Collection of the Australian Museum was established in 1988. It currently holds approximately 40,000 tissues preserved at -80°C in ultracold freezers or in ethanol. As such, it is one of the largest in Australia, with particular strengths in mammals of the South-west Pacific, New Guinea and Australia, reptiles of NSW and several exotic species.

Due to instability of the existing database the Australian Museum tissue collection is no longer searchable online. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have enquiries about the Australian Museum tissue collection in the first instance please contact the DNA Laboratory Manager who will refer you to the appropriate collection manager.
