People's Choice Awards Terms and Conditions
- Voting in the Australian Museum Eureka Prizes People's Choice Award is open to Australian Residents only. People under the age of 18 years of age must have the consent of their parent or guardian to vote. Employees of the Australian Museum, or any person associated with the Award, and their immediate families are not eligible to vote in the Award.
- A person may submit only one vote.
- The Competition opens at 9 am (AEST) on Friday 25 July 2008.
- Voting in the Award will close at midnight (AEST) on Sunday 17 August 2008. No votes will be accepted after that time. The Australian Museum is not responsible for votes lost or delayed or not received for any reason.
- All people who vote in the Award will go into the draw to win one of the following prizes, with winners randomly selected. Once an entry has been randomly selected, it will be omitted from any subsequent prize draws:
- a) First vote drawn will win the opportunity to have part of their DNA sequenced by scientists at the Australian Museum. The results of this sequencing will be mounted and framed and presented to the winner. Value: $1,000
- b) The second vote drawn will win one 12-month subscription to New Scientist magazine. Value $331.50
- c) The third and fourth votes drawn will win one of two $100 book voucher from Abbey's Bookstore. Value: $200
- d) Student Draw: In addition to the above prizes, the first 16 student votes drawn will win one of 16 Microsoft Student 2007. Value: $150. Once a vote has been randomly selected, it will be omitted from any subsequent prize draws. Total Value: $2400
- e) Teacher Draw: In addition to the above prizes, the first vote drawn from teacher entries will win one of $500 worth of books, CD's and DVD's from ABC Shops. Value: $500
- The draw will take place at 4pm on 25 August 2008 at the Australian Museum, 6 College St, Sydney, NSW
- The winner of the DNA sequencing Prize agrees to provide a DNA sample, in the form of a cheek swab, to Australian Museum scientists for analysis purposes. The sample, and any other material associated with the sample, will be destroyed following the analysis. The sample will be analysed using a technique called electrophoresis, and the results (graphs and pictures) will be mounted and framed.
- All Prizes cannot be transferred, exchanged or redeemed in cash. The value of each prize as stated in these Conditions of Entry is stated in good faith and the Australian Museum accepts no responsibility for any variation. The Australian Museum reserves the right to substitute any prize for an item of similar value.
- All prize winners will be notified by email on or about 25 August 2008, or otherwise as soon as reasonably possible following the Australian Museum's determining of the prize winners.
- The names of the winners will be published in The Australian on Monday 1 September.
- In the event of any unclaimed Prizes, a redraw will take place at 6 College St, Sydney on 26 November 2007 at 3pm.
- The Australian Museum may use any information (including personal information) provided by any person who submits a vote to contact him/her for any reason in relation to the Competition.
- The decision of the Australian Museum in relation to any aspect of the Competition will be final, and will be binding on every person who enters the Competition. No correspondence will be entered into.
- If there is an event which prevents or hinders the Australian Museum conduct of the Competition, or the Australian Museum's ability to deliver the prize to the Prize Winner, then the Australian Museum may, in its discretion cancel the Competition subject to State Regulation or select other Prize Winners. Further, the Australian Museum may at its sole discretion recommence it under the same conditions.
- Each vote must be made in accordance with these Conditions of Entry. By submitting a vote in the Competition, each entrant agrees to be bound by the Conditions of Entry. The Australian Museum may at its discretion refuse the award any prize to any entrant who fails to comply with these Conditions of Entry.
