Judging the Eurekas
Judging the Eureka Prizes is a massive undertaking.
Each year, over 70 eminent experts come together to form 19 separate judging panels that collectively assess entries from across Australia.
The Australian Museum facilitates this process.
After the close of entries judges read and rank them against the published criteria – and supply their initial rankings to the Australian Museum before group deliberations are held.
This ensures that all judges have an equal input into the rankings used as the basis for discussion among judging panels. Prize judging in conducted in confidence and is guided by a Conflict of Interest policy.
The Judges are expert representatives from a variety of disciplines and work in universities, schools, the media, research institutes, industry, science centres and government departments.
Collectively, they are the “Who’s Who” of Australian science, science communication and education.
The Australian Museum is indebted to the individuals who participate in this judging process.
