The 2008 Eureka Prizes Award Dinner is going to be big!
As an annual event celebrating outstanding scientific research, innovation, leadership, school science, science communication and journalism, there's nothing like this dinner anywhere in the world.
The Australian Museum Eureka Prizes Award Dinner brings together the "who's who" of Australian science in an atmosphere of celebration.
Industry leaders, seasoned journalists, young researchers, state and federal politicians, school students, policy makers, teachers and distinguished scientists will come together in the presence of Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC AVO, Governor on New South Wales, to applaud the work of those who have made a difference.
At this year's dinner, you could be rubbing shoulders with a heady line-up of federal and state Ministers including Peter Garrett AM MP, Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts; Senator Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research; Warren Snowdon MP, Minister for Defence Science and Personnel; and Verity Firth MP, NSW Minister for Climate Change and the Environment and for Science and Medical Research.
The line-up on stage is also impressive, with the evening hosted by Network Ten's Natarsha Belling and ABC's Adam Spencer, with help from SBS's Anton Enus, ABC's Jennifer Byrne, Channel 7 Sunrise's Simon Reeve and early morning radio presenter on Sydney's WSFM 101.7, Amanda Keller.
