Eastern Falsistrelle

Family: Vespertilionidae
Scientific name: Falsistrellus tasmaniensis

Where they roost:
Hollows in old trees in higher rainfall forests. However they occasionally roost in disused buildings.

What they eat:
These bats feed on insects including moths, beetles and ants.

Conservation threats:
Vulnerable to loss of roost sites in tree hollows and loss of feeding grounds by forestry activities, clearing for agriculture and housing.

Other information:
Very little is known about eastern false pipistrelles. They are under threat from intensive forestry in their habitat.
