Little Pied Bat

Family: Vespertilionidae
Scientific name: Chalinolobus picatus

Where they roost:
In dry caves, mines and disused houses and possibly tree hollows. They roost together in small groups of 20 to 40 bats.

What they eat:
Insects, but exact diet is not known.

Conservation threats:
Vulnerable to disturbance from human visitors to cave roosts, destruction of caves by mining, and loss of feeding habitat by clearing and land degradation from agriculture.

Other information:
Little pied bats have been found roosting in places where the temperature reaches more than 40 degrees Celsius. They must roost in places near water.
