Pygmy Long-eared Bat

Family: Vespertilionidae
Scientific name: Nyctophilus walkeri

Where they roost:
Pygmy long-eared bats have been seen roosting in palms and pandanus thickets.

What they eat:
These bats feed on bugs, beetles and wasps. They fly close to water as they hunt for their prey.

Conservation threats:
Vulnerable to loss of roosting sites and adverse changes to feeding areas from clearing of vegetation and land degradation from agricultural activities.

Other information:
Very little is known about pygmy long-eared bats but they are usually found near permanent water.
