Northern Leaf-nosed Bat

Family: Hipposideridae
Scientific name: Hipposideros stenotis

Where they roost:
In caves and cracks in sandstone cliffs and in old mines. It is not known whether they roost together in colonies.

What they eat:
Moths, mosquitoes and flies. They fly slowly with a flutter, like a butterfly but can change direction quickly as they hunt their prey.

Conservation threats:
Vulnerable to disturbance from human visitors to cave roosts, destruction of caves by mining, and loss of feeding habitat by clearing and land degradation from agriculture.
