Feather cape from Hawaii collected by Captain Cook .

In 1890, the Museum received from the New South Wales Government a collection of relics collected during the voyages of Captain James Cook, which had been displayed at the Colonial and Indian Exhibition in London in 1886. Part of this collection was transferred to the Mitchell Library in 1955 with the Museum retaining the ethnographic material.
