Aboriginal Archaeological Collections - Backed Artefacts
These stone artefacts are made on flakes or parts of flakes. They have had small flakes removed along one or more margins to create a distinctive, steep, blunt edge (backing). Bondi points are named after Bondi Beach (Sydney) where they were first recognised as forming a specific type of implement. They are thought to have been used as spear points, cutting implements or for piercing materials such as animal skins.
