The Australian Museum is one of a number of museums in Australian that is currently taking photographs of primary types of Australian species held in its collections.

Images of the type specimens of mammals, birds, reptiles, fishes and molluscs will eventually be searchable over the Web through the Ozcam website.

Funding for the project was granted by GBIF, the Global Biodiversity Information Facility.

Australian Museum staff who have worked on the project during 2004 include Mark Allen, Holly Barlow, Sally Cowan and Kerryn Parkinson.
